WHEN I BREATHE MY LAST!

 WHEN I BREATHE MY LAST!

When I Breathe My Last!

I shall be alone in the journey;

With no one accompanying me.

I shall travel and never return;

We may only meet in the Great Beyond.

Only if you make it there with me!

When I Breathe My Last!

I shall travel and leave you in marvel;

You will wonder if we will ever meet again!

No one can stop me on the voyage;

We might only journey here together.

Only if you behold what I see in the Land!

When I Breathe My Last!

My wife will look for me;

She will call me out the way she has so christened.

Mine! Mine! Mine or Baby;

But reality will dawn on her.

Only if she beholds where I am going!

When I Breathe My Last!

Posterity--JokNom--JenA̱gwaza;

Will only remember that they used to have a "daddy."

There may be no one supporting them;

That is when they will muse and miss me.

Only if they know that this life is transient!

When I Breathe My Last!

My workplace may only mourn for a day or two;

And someone will assume my responsibilities!

The Church--some members will mourn my passing, how they will miss me;

The Church--some members will rejoice, how a troubler has exited!

If only they know whom I have believed!

When I Breathe My Last!

My struggles in this life will end;

To make it in life will become meaningless!

Trying to fend for the family will end;

No more need--whatsoever to pay bills.

If only I did not betray Him--my Creator!

When I Breathe My Last!

Only the truth that in life I have spoken will stand;

If only I do not pretend like our people want!

The actions and inactions of each day that passes by;

"Welcome, good and faithful servant," His words to me.

If only I did not misrepresent my Maker!

When I Breathe My Last!

I may never recall that I was Nigerian;

A heavenly citizen will be, forever!

Do not pray that  I "Rest In Peace;"

Not even "Rest In Power" will add up!

I shall go alone--facing my Saviour without shame!
