LEADERS OF TOMORROW?

 LEADERS OF TOMORROW? 

Growing up in Nigeria was interesting. I do not know the experiences of Primary School pupils nowadays. While in Primary School, we believed and sang everyday that "children are the leaders of tomorrow." There seems to be NO tomorrow for the Nigerian child. Check out our leadership and you will see people who LED as "children" (which is our DREAM) are still LEADING as grandparents and great-grandparents.

Have Nigerian children failed in their responsibilities in that none is capable and able to lead? Or  has the old song of "children being leaders of tomorrow" lost its meaning? Is this song still relevant? Or have we been deceived by people who taught us the song? If only they had known how meaningless the song would be.

May God help Nigerian children as they look forward to a time when this song can make meaning to ALL.

ON THE POPULAR "REST IN PEACE" (RIP) PRAYER: CAUTION FROM PROF B.A. SARMA Prof B.A. Sarma in an Alumni platform observed that anytime there are announcements about the passing of alumni members, many people respond with "Rest in Peace." He responds accordingly in the paragraph below, thus: "'May his gentle soul rest with the Lord Almighty' has become a popular prayer for the dead. But this is Catholic and Muslim tradition who pray for the dead. Surprisingly, it has now gained ground even among ECWA elites and theologians! From an evangelical perspective, no prayer or wish could alter the fate of anyone who died. THE SUSCEPTIBILITY OF THE ELECTORATES IN AFRICA It could be argued that in most parts of rural Africa, the masses are very susceptible when it comes to deciding the people to be elected into political offices. Every electioneering year, they move from party to party just to earn a living for the present not minding what happens in the years ahead. The more a party or its officials release money the more the likelihood that every bearer of its flag is going to emerge victorious! Here, winning any election becomes a matter of a 'highest bidder.' If you like you may say there is the auctioning of available political spaces in constituencies anytime there are elections.
